DrosoTracker — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 July 2026

DrosoTracker is a free web application that helps Drosophila melanogaster researchers track the life cycle of their fly cultures (developmental stages, estimated eclosion dates, tasks and reminders). This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

Data stored on your device

DrosoTracker runs entirely in your web browser. The information you enter — your records (genotype, dates, temperature, notes), settings (language, appearance), per-genotype calibrations, and any lab genotype list you import — is stored locally in your browser (via localStorage). It is not sent to us and we operate no server database that collects or stores your records. Clearing your browser data, or using the app's "Clear all records" option, deletes it.

Google Calendar (optional)

If — and only if — you choose to connect Google Calendar, the app uses Google's OAuth sign-in and requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events permission for the sole purpose of:

DrosoTracker does not read, analyze, or use any of your other calendar events or personal calendar data. The access token obtained from Google is kept only in your browser for the current session; no token is stored on any server, and no calendar data is transmitted to us. You can disconnect at any time from within the app, and revoke access entirely at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Limited Use. DrosoTracker's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Hosting and logs

The app is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any website, the hosting provider may process standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve the page and for security. DrosoTracker itself sets no advertising or tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics.
